*/5 * * * * /path/to/command
Field & syntax guide
Minute within the hour; */5 means 0, 5, 10 … 55.
24-hour clock; 9-17 includes both 09:00 and 17:00 hours.
Day within the month; nonexistent dates such as February 30 never match.
1 is January, 12 is December; three-letter English names are accepted.
Numeric numbering differs by platform; prefer names such as MON–FRI.
*Any allowed value1,15Any value in the list1-5Inclusive range*/10Steps from the field origin, not an elapsed timerWhen neither day field uses *, either can match (OR). Wildcard steps such as */2 constrain both fields. This tool only previews times. GitHub preview advances skipped times to the DST transition; other previews skip gaps. Linux shows both repeated wall times; other modes use one engine-selected occurrence. Actual scheduler behavior may differ.
Supports numbers, three-letter names, lists, ranges and steps. Enter advanced date rules individually; mixed advanced lists, wraparound ranges, random and hashed syntax are not supported. Check your target platform documentation.
